Do you feel your neck is aging rapidly? You are having neck lines and sometimes feel conscious and grab a scarf to cover your neck?

Well…

You might  be looking into getting a Nefertiti Neck Lift (Botox Neck Lift) to reverse the signs of ageing in your lower face, jaw, and neck.

But before you jump straight into this Botox® treatment, it’s important to know exactly what you should expect from it. To help you out, I’ve summarised everything you need to know about the Nefertiti Neck Lift here.

What to expect from your treatment

Before the date of your procedure draws close, it’s important to familiarise yourself with the sequence of events. However, your practitioner should  also run this through with you clearly, in person, before your neck lift.

What you should expect before the procedure

Botox injection treatments, such as the Nefertiti Neck Lift, are often considered a simple lunchtime procedure.

However, you must consider this as a medical treatment, using prescription products, performed by trained clinicians. Therefore, you shouldn’t take the procedure lightly. As with any other procedure, Dr Wafaa El Mouhebb at Dr Wafaa Clinic will discuss your medical history, concerns, and expectations.

Some of the aspects which your clinician must be aware of include:

  • Medications that you are currently taking
  • Allergies (particularly to other medication)
  • Any pre-existing or past medical conditions

Note: as a general rule, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should not be having Botox treatment.

The consultation also allows you to express your expectations. Dr Wafaa will advise whether the desired results are achievable, and if they are, how they can best perform the treatment for you. You will also be advised of any specific precautions.

For example, alcoholic beverages should not be consumed 24 hours before the treatment, and blood-thinning and anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin and ibuprofen should not be taken prior to your appointment.

What you should expect during the procedure?

Dr Wafaa will discuss the details of the treatment with you prior to commencing.

Following this, the areas will be marked up and treatments administered using fine needles, as the Botox neck lift procedure involves administering small injections into the marked-up areas.

What you should expect after the procedure?

The Botox treatment has minimal downtime, and you can be expected to leave almost immediately after your treatment, although we would be more than happy to have you wait and have a cup of tea with us after your treatment!

Some immediate aftercare would include:

  • Do not rub or massage the area for 24 hours
  • Avoid exercise
  • Not to take blood thinning medication

You can ordinarily return to your normal activities right after your wrinkle treatment, but you ought to ask Dr Wafaa at your appointment.

Are there any risks associated with a Botox / Nefertiti neck lift?

Botox wrinkle injections have a tried and tested safety profile, when performed by an experienced medical practitioner. However, with all treatments, there are possible side effects and complications.

The potential side effects include:

    • Bruising or redness
    • Difficulty swallowing
    • Neck weakness
    • Flu-like symptoms
    • Headaches

However, you’re able to talk to Dr Wafaa about how to prepare and recover from the procedure to minimise any side effects.

It is always safer to report sensations to your doctor whenever you experience them.
