Lip Filler Treatment
Lip filler can give you fuller, natural-looking, beautiful lips.
Would you like to:
- – Have naturally bigger lips or increase the fullness of your thin lips.
- – Enhance the definition and contouring of your lips
- – Have a more defined smile
- – Or erase the signs of ageing to your mouth area and regain a youthful, more rejuvenated appearance
However… You are scared… The images you have seen on social media or even the results your neighbour next door got from her last procedure, made you mistakenly associate lip fillers with ‘trout pouts’ and ‘duck lips’…
Oh and Yes!! The COVID era and the new continuous “Face-Mask covered” lips trend, has just put you off going for a Lip enhancement.
Who will see the difference anyway?
But… Whenever you look into the mirror… It’s your inner voice, asking for just a little tweak, asking for a bit of care to preserve or nurture your natural beauty.
At the end you deserve it… You know you want it…

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
As we age, lips naturally lose volume and plumpness. This is due to the overall decrease in collagen and elastin that occurs as we age. Collagen and Elastin are the proteins in our skin which provide structure, support and elasticity.
Dermal fillers used in the UK contain hyaluronic acid. When injected into the skin, hyaluronic acid has hydrophilic (water-loving) tendencies. This causes it to attract water, thus filling out wrinkles and scars and adding volume and shape where necessary.
As it is a naturally occurring substance within the body, adverse reactions to it are unlikely.
There are various techniques to administer fillers, subtly reshape lips, add lost volume to ageing lips, and treat lipstick lines and philtral columns. This can be achieved using Needle or Micro-cannula.
Your treatment will be tailored according to your specific lip and facial anatomy and your desired result to create a natural-looking set of lips.
Lips are very sensitive, so we apply a local anaesthetic before your treatment to numb the area. There may still be some discomfort, if this is too great inform us and we will look to ease this as much as possible.
To note using micro-cannula are much less painful than Needle!
With her high expertise and worldwide qualifications, Dr Wafaa El Mouhebb has been able to gain experience in using micro-cannula in lip filler thus reducing pain , swelling and bruises after the procedure
At Dr Wafaa Clinic, due to ethical reasons we do have age limit policies with our injectable treatments. Due to the natural development of the face and muscles we have made the decision not to provide dermal or lip fillers to anyone below the age of 18.
In the week before the treatment, avoid taking aspirin (unless prescribed by a doctor), ibuprofen, vitamin E and fish oil supplements as these may increase bleeding and bruising.
Kindly ensure to inform us of any prescription medication you are taking.
Step One – Consultation and Consent
It is essential to understand that, whilst dermal fillers are not prescription-only medicines, the medication needed to dissolve fillers, hyaluronidase, is. Additionally, the anatomy of the face is complex; it is advisable only to allow medically qualified practitioners to carry out filler treatments.
Upon arrival at our Reading clinic, Dr Wafaa will complete detailed personal details and medical history forms with you. She will then discuss your medical history, the procedure, and any potential side effects and highlight the realistic, expected result of the treatment. This process should take as long as you need and allow you to weigh up the benefits against the risks.
You will then sign and date your completed consent form.
Photos of the area to be treated will be taken for records and comparison later on with the after result. These Photos might be shared on Social Media for teaching and marketing purposes, but your consent will be taken before that. If you don’t prefer releasing the photos, the images will be kept confidential for medical records only.
Step Two – Your Treatment
Your treatment will take around 15-30 minutes.
The first part of your treatment will be the removal of any makeup and sterilisation of the area to be treated with an antibacterial/alcohol wipe.
The area to be treated will then be numbed using an anaesthetic cream to the site 20 minutes or so before injection. This helps to dampen the place to be treated and reduces pain when the needle is inserted into the skin. The anaesthetic effects of numbing creams like EMLA last around 30-60 minutes.
Dr Wafaa will use a micro-needle or a cannula to inject small filler into the lips. Various techniques can be used, depending on the stuffing and the area being treated.
After injecting the filler, She may manipulate and massage it to ensure it is evenly distributed and correctly placed.
Step Three – The Check-Up
You will be offered a free check-up two weeks after your treatment. This allows Dr Wafaa to check that the dose they administered was appropriate for the agreed outcome and that the healing process is smooth.
Final Step – The Repeat Treatment
Depending on how quickly you metabolise the filler and which product you were treated with, you will require a repeat treatment 6-24 months after your initial treatment.
You will be advised regarding when you may require a repeat treatment.
As with most treatments where injections are involved, typical side effects of lip fillers include slight swelling, redness, tenderness and bleeding around the points where the needle or cannula was inserted. But, these should only last for a few days.
